His research focuses on biomedical analog/mixed-signal integrated circuits, including wearable chips, implantable brain-computer interfaces, electrochemical chips, DNA sequencing chips, data converters, and AI chips.
He received his Ph.D. from KU Leuven and IMEC. He joined IMEC in 2015, where he served as a Ph.D. researcher, researcher, senior researcher, project manager, and chair of the analog circuit community.
He has published more than 30 papers in leading integrated circuit conferences and journals, including ISSCC, VLSI, JSSC, and TBCAS, and holds 2 granted U.S. patents.

Academician Ming Liu has long been engaged in microelectronics research, with major contributions to emerging memories, micro/nanoelectronic devices, advanced semiconductor materials and structures, and micro/nanofabrication technologies for integrated circuits.
As the Chief Scientific Advisor of the laboratory, Academician Liu provides strategic guidance for frontier interdisciplinary research in biomedical integrated circuits, brain-computer interface chips, intelligent sensing systems, and next-generation integrated circuit technologies.
